Hope you’ve had a great weekend and maybe even had a go at making one of the recipes from the Everyday Yoga with Helena series. Remember and tweet me or tag me on instagram with your creations! And, if you want to join in the yoga at home, you can head over to Helena’s site and watch her videos (and you’ll catch me towards the end of each episode).
Tonight’s episode was a high powered energising flow, and now I’ve got a crazy delicious energy ball recipe that will keep you fuelled throughout your workout and beyond. These are easily transportable, so make a bath at the beginning of the week and keep some in your desk for when you get a chocolate craving and some in your gym bag for when you’re on the go.
These babies are high in manganese, copper, and riboflavin; these guys help disarm free radicals in your cells, which otherwise can cause DNA damage and other weird shit you don’t want. They’re also full of healthy fats and fibre, and have lots of vitamin E to keep your skin healthy and glowing. They also have chia in them which might help keep blood sugar levels stable and stop you from crashing in the middle of the day! these are crazy tasty so you’ll have to be careful not to eat them all at once. Not that I’ve ever done that or anything…
- 1 cup mejdool dates, choppped
- 1 cup almond butter
- 1 tbsp. vanilla powder
- 2 tbsp. flax meal
- 1-2 tbsp. cacoa powder
- pinch sea salt
- 1/2 cup goji berries
- 2tbsp. chia seeds
- Place dates in a bowl, boil the kettle and pour hot water over them, leave them to soften for at least ten minutes. Drain the dates and put them in a high powered blender/food processor with the rest of the ingredients except the gogi berries and chia and blend until a smooth dough forms. You may have to keep scraping down the sides of the blender bowl and reblending until smooth if your blender isn't super powerful, but it should work out just fine. Pop the mixture in a bowl with the chia and goji and then get in there with your hands and mash it all together. When completely mixed, split the mixture into quarters, and then each quarter into six equal pieces. Roll each piece into a little ball in the palm of your hands and you're done.Enjoy!
- Store in an airtight container (preferably glass) at room temp.
Hope you’re feeling super energised from Helena’s flow and make sure you tune in on Wednesday at 8 for the next installment (and a badass popcorn recipe).
