Role Description:
This is an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full time role for a Registered Nutritionist/Dietitian to join our growing team at London Centre for Intuitive Eating.
We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about delivering non-diet approaches to nutrition in a 1-1 setting with clients who have a difficult relationship with food and their bodies. At LCIE, we do not take a didactic approach to our client work, rather we take a client-centred, collaborative approach that assumes the client is the expert of their own bodies, rather than the clinician. This prevents us from building relationships that are based on unequal power dynamics, and allows the clinician to take a non-judgmental and compassionate approach to their work. A successful candidate would also be expected to work inter-disciplinarily as part of an MDT.
In addition to their client caseload, the successful candidate will be responsible for writing and creating client content that tackles nutrition-related problems through a non-diet lense. Examples will include irritable bowel syndrome, sports nutrition, pregnancy, PCOS and hypothalamic amenorrhea and other health concerns.
You will be given training in intuitive eating and non-diet nutrition (although any experience of this is advantageous) and relevant counselling skills, and will be given opportunities to shadow experienced nutrition practitioners in clinic covering a wide range of concerns, such as disordered eating, body image, emotional eating, and helping clients develop a healthy relationship to food and their body.
You will also get first-hand experience of the broad range of skills needed to run a nutrition business.
Responsibilities:
Shadow other team members in their clinical practice
Working up to counselling your own caseload of clients in a 1-1 setting – predominantly seeing clients with disordered eating, but with scope to widen your caseload to include a range of conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome, eating disorders, PCOS and amenorrhea
Help develop accessible client and clinician information sheets, covering a range of different nutrition-related issues from a non-diet perspective
Critically appraise and review scientific literature
Manage bibliographic databases
Help manage online courses
Help organise and eventually facilitate workshops for individuals on various aspects of Intuitive Eating
Administrative responsibilities; social media content development & newsletter scheduling
The role may include other reasonable and similar responsibilities
Qualifications & skills:
Must have a minimum of a BSc in Nutrition and/or Dietetics
Must be eligible for registration or already registered with either:
- Association for Nutrition (A/RNutr) or
- Health Care Professions Council (RD).
Must have strong professional interest in intuitive eating, Health at Every Size and Non-Diet Nutrition. Must have knowledge of non-diet approach and demonstrate understanding of weight-inclusive paradigm. You will receive training in the clinical aspects of this work, but a baseline understanding of the theory is essential.
Having research or clinical experience is preferable but not essential.
Strong written & verbal communicator; you will be able to write in an academic style (appropriate for publication in a journal), as well as communicate complex scientific ideas to a lay audience.
You will be well organised, self-motivated, driven and able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a wider team.
Must be compassionate and have a strong interest in working with disordered eating.
Desirable:
Familiarity with software such as Canva, Mailchimp, WordPress
Additional training in behaviour change or counselling skills – such as Motivational interviewing/CBT/ACT
Experience with body image work
